This has, undoubtedly, been a complete nightmare of a month. There had been a few bright spots here or there, but not enough so that Catra might consider this month to have been anything but a wash. She feels both exhausted and amped up in the worst of ways. It's left her on edge, nearly hyper-vigilant of her surroundings.
She notices the man approaching well before he seems to acknowledge her presence. At best, she thinks that he will just walk by and at worst, she imagines he might start some kind of problem. It wouldn't be the first time, for sure. She attempts to pretend that she doesn't notice him, focusing her efforts on plucking some dangerous mushrooms off the edge of a fallen log, and hopes that he will do the same.
However, as he gets closer, she realises that he wants something worse.
He recognizes her, just about the same time as she recognizes him, and he's grateful at once for the company and the familiar face, however new it might be.
That guy from before, she calls him, as he nods in response and searches his memory for whether or not she might have shared her own name in their first meeting.
"Catra, wasn't it?" he says, snapping his fingers as at last it comes to him. "Tides, I would say it's been a while, but that was only just last month, with the Sea Stalks, then, wasn't it?"
He reaches up to run a hand through his hair and over his face, doing his best not to look as tired as he feels. Only a month... "Time flies, doesn't it? What're you up to, so far out of the city?"

Small talk.
"You're that guy from before," she answers.
